One of My Houses

The post title is from a David Sedaris story. He tells the tale of a well-dressed woman in at a dry cleaning store who mentions in an off-hand way that she is not sure for which of her houses her cleaning is destined. We live the exact same life - except for being able to afford dry cleaning with the burden of our multiple mortgages, tax bills, insurance, and utilities.

We have had a lot of interest in the condo lately and we tried to reach an agreement with a prospective buyer, but we could not get our minimum met. It seems that the prices have stopped falling, so for the time being we are leaving the price as is.

I took a day off yesterday and worked in the Ashland house. A couple more days to finish the bathroom and then we need to paint the kitchen and study. We will rent a truck one weekend and move some stuff to Reading. I think we will also have to have one more dumpster to finish the clean-out. Amazing - that would be about 45 cubic yards (6 tons) of trash. I can't image what the clutter would be like in a larger house. There is 1,400 sq ft of living space in Ashland + basement + attic + shed. This is one of the few times I have been happy there is NOT a garage!

I finished putting up the last of the tile board inside the bathroom. I also hooked up the new shower valve and shower head; I mis-calculated on the length of pipe for the tub filler. I cut and re-soldered it to the correct length, but it was too late and the pipe was too hot to hook up. After I was done, I took a shower - the first time I've been able to do that in Ashland in months. Next step will be to tile the bath and finish the other walls. Then fit out the shelving in the closet, put up the wall cabinet and 2nd light, paint --- and done.

We have a birthday party for Grandma Luz tomorrow and I plan to check out the UU church in Reading on Sunday. Other than that, and some condo showings, we have no plans for the weekend.

Here are the Henry pics. The bathtub and dining photos are from a week ago and the TV watching photos are from earlier this week.
