The work on the kitchen in our new house started this week. On Tuesday, the walls, floor, ceiling, cabinets, sink, oven, cooktop, and dishwasher all disappeared. So begins the day-by-day chronicle of Kitchening. We moved the fridge, microwave, dining table, and some kitchen essentials into the living room and emptied all of the cabinets (which we had avoided filling knowing they were short-lived) last weekend.
We were amazed they got everything removed except the radiator (plumber required) and cleaned up so there were no piles of plaster or nails to be found. And no dumpster - they hauled everything away the same day.

Looking into Dining Room from Kitchen - there was a wall here with an octagonal stained glass window, sconce lights, and a swinging door into the Dining Room

Looking into Kitchen from Dining Room - yep, no more wall or finger-pinching swinging door

Dining Room Wall - There was a built-in corner china cabinet on the right - no cabinet, no wall

The cooktop and wall oven used to be over on the right. The vent is still there in the back wall

A few more assorted views

You can see some of the original kitchen in this old posting. Unfortunately, no picture of the pink sink.
Stay tuned for Kitchening - Part II where we find rough electrical, rougher plumbing, and the replacement window appears.
