Kitchening - Part X

These are photos from the 11th day of work (Wednesday) on the new kitchen.

The island rises, the appliances move into their respective places, and the fridge come to life.

The island cabinets are installed and we all see what the rear of down-draft range looks like. And what a beautiful floor!

Dining room. The large panel is going to be used in a support wall to be built behind the island that will hold the raised counter.

The fridge was plugged in and cooling.

The new window with trim stained to compliment.

The pantry is my personal favorite.

Other dining room wall.

You can see some of the original kitchen in this old posting.

Stay tuned for Kitchening - Part XI: There was a Chair Rail There?

Busy weekend. Friday afternoon Joni had an OB check-up that went well. We accepted the offer for Ashland on Friday night.

Saturday morning the buyers had a home inspection done. We had the bathroom re-fit crew installing the new tub surround in Reading (came out great - pics to come soon). Saturday afternoon Joni went to inspect the granite slab that was picked for our kitchen (it failed color QC and she reserved another slab for us). Late Saturday night I had a list of questions from the buyers as a result of the inspection that I answered.

Sunday we had an open house in Ashland (it had already been advertised before the offer) and another party expressed interest in following up if this deal does not go through. Sunday afternoon we looked at a set of pendant lights for the new kitchen at HD Expo Design that we thought were pretty groovy. Instead of those at $600, we got some at Lowe's that we liked just fine for $60. If we grow tired of them it won't be painful to replace. Also got a replacement for the entry light, which now looks old and dated in a bad way.
